CR AU (Optional): n/a

Personality:
Positive Trait: INTELLIGENT

Louis is very intelligent. He has a great deal of street smarts. When he first turned, he wore glasses to hide the change in the shade of his eyes from his family. When Claudia needs her own coffin, he pretends that she is terminally ill with the vendor. He can tell an easy lie on a dime and not feel bad about doing so. He reads just about every book and newspaper he can get a hold of. This is especially true when Claudia went on her first walkabout and Louis identified multiple incidents that could have occurred because of her.

Additionally, he can build an empire, whether real estate or art, to create wealth for himself. He was able to provide for his family by owning businesses such as whorehouses, clubs, and the like. Additionally, when Louis moves to Paris, Louis does not align himself with the coven, primarily out of need to be a free agent (see below), but he also knows better than to join some organization he knows nothing about. Instead he focuses entirely on art collecting and providing a place to live for both himself and Claudia. He selects pieces from artists who are either dying or close to doing so, and predicting the increase in value.

Negative Trait: VENGEFUL

Louis has spent most of his life trying to make something of himself. He grew up in a pre-racial America where he had no choice but to bend the knee. He has been beat down more than once by others jealous of his success and eventually, Louis can no longer stand it. So, when he is wronged, Louis tends toward extreme revenge. He openly displayed the corpse of Mr. Fenwick to make a statement and the resulting fire killed hundreds of people. After Lestat dropped him from 2 km up, he agreed with Claudia to seek revenge on his maker, Lestat de Lioncourt.

When he arrived in Paris and he no longer needed to bend the knee to anyone, Louis became much more easily turned to revenge. He attacked Santiago during a dinner after the later insulted him in front of the coven. And, when the coven kills Claudia in a sham trial, he kills almost all of the 13+ vampires in said coven. He does so in an extremely brtual way as well, setting most of them on fire. While talking with Daniel about a missing memory, Lestat's attitude toward Armand. Also, as soon as Armand's largest lie is revealed, Louis turns on him and throws him into a wall.

Negative Trait: FATALISTIC

As mentioned above, Louis did not join the Paris Coven, defying hundreds of years of rules. Despite being informed of the rules by Armand, Louis continued to flaunt these rules openly in front of the Coven. Even as the coven began to turn against Claudia and Louis, Louis did not pull himself out of danger. Additionally, when he learned to control fire with his mind, he set his photographs on fire with little care for the very flammable materials that could catch him and his apartment on fire.

When he planned to get revenge on the Coven, he planned to die and not escape. The odds were stacked up against him and he did not care in the slightest. Even while most of the Coven are burning in their coffins, Louis spends extra time to pick up Claudia's diaries, rather than run to safety. He also pursues the strongest of the Theatre' des Vampires: Santiago. Louis openly challenges him to a fight. The same can be said to 1973 and his rush out into the sun. He didn't plan to survive and when Armand pulled him back into the dark, Louis is crying out to be left outside in the sun despite the pain.

Negative Trait: EASILY PERSUADED

While Louis hates being told what to do, he is easily persuaded into taking certain paths. At the start, he falls for Lestat and agrees to become a vampire. Despite his complaints about being a vampire, he asks Lestat to create Claudia because she called him her "black angel." Further on, Claudia leads the planning on killing Lestat while Louis waffles on whether or not they should. In the end, Claudia sets him to be the distraction for Lestat and Louis nearly fails at his job due to falling back in love with Lestat.

All throughout, the Paris section, Louis sees hallucinations of Lestat and not only sees him, but also listens to him regarding Louis's problems. Finally, Louis believes Armand saved him at the trial without question. Louis does not doubt the legitimacy of this claim until over seventy years later. It's only after he's shown a copy of the script that he changes his mind again to blame Armand.
